This is a good way how to set up Follow Actions with Scenes in Ableton Live..
What are Scenes? Those called Scenes are the horizontal rows in clip session view..
You can start a whole scene when you click on a play button in the Master channel..
So we now want those scenes to run downwards automaticaly after 8 Bars for example.
Well..you you could either use a Keyboard or the Remotee controller IAC/ YOKE driverto Midi Learn the notes C8 and B7.
If you are on Mac just activate IAC Driver in Audio/Midi Setup of OSX.
If you are on PC download the Midi/Yoke setup provided below.
Description:
1: IAC/Midi Yoke Driver Setup
Ok..lets go through the Pic.
I assume you have installed Midi/Yoke or activated IAC Driver.
First of all, go to preferences and follow the Yellow arrows in Midi setup..set IAC(MAC) or Yoke(PC) input to
Remote control and the output to Track.
Go Back into Live main window and select Midi learn mode on the upper right site (Green Arrow)..
Watch Master Channel..
Select Scene Launch and press C8 on your Midi Keyboard (Red Arrow)..
Select Scene Down and press B7 on your Keyboard (Purple Arrow).
Both should pop up now in Control Pannel on the left site..if its opened..;)
Now leave Midi learn mode. ( Green Arrow)
Next thing..create a midi track..set output to IAC OR YOKE Channel 1(Big Blue Cycle)
Create a clip with double click somewhere on the track.
Set it to 9 Bars. (Small Blue Cycle)
Change the raster to 1/32.(Green Cycle below)
Place the Notes like in the Picture. (B7 @ 8.4) (C8 @ right before 9) ! !
Set Prerun to None. (Green Cycle @ Top)
Copy that Midi clip as often as you want a Scene to change.(Blue Dots)
Well you are almost done ! !
If you got no Midi Keyboard just create the Midi Track with all that information before setting up the controlers for Scene Launch and Scene Down.
And Midi learn it that way..;)
2: General Preferences
Go to Preferences again and follow the Green Markers.
Close it and make sure your Midi Clip is set up correct..it is essential. (Red and Green Arrow , Green Cycle)
Check out Midi clip specs on the left bottom. (Green Signs)
There you Go ! !
