Well lets get into a Basic Sound Design with our lovely Synth..The Vanguard by reFX!!
Here a simple and small example on how to build your own sound on Vanguard It isn't as much work as you would think Dont expect to be able to create every sound you want after going through this But its a good way to start your Sound Designing Adventure!!
1: First step is to hit EDIT

This will open up the synthesizer to get to the needed functions!
2:Now The Vanguard will look like this!
3: There are 3 sounds which you can layer! BLUE is the first sound and the second arrow points the settings for it
GREEN is the second sound and the second arrow points the settings for it
YELLOW is where you load up the bank to work on...
Now first open the empty soundbank
Then go to OSC...
4: Choose one of the waveforms..
5: Now you go to the functions and start twisting them buttons to hear the changes..
6:For our example we choose bi-saw For both the first and the second layer
Then twist the SEMI buttons [They set the octave] In the main display you can see it digitaly
The first sound gets a - 12 The second oneset at - 24 This will give our sound the body that we want..
7:Your sound sounds like your driving over something at high speed now if you press your keyboard Now on to the functions ENV,they will influence the Volume adjustment
of Attack/Decay/Sustain/Release of the Sound..
Lets change that weird sound to something more usefull You can copy the settings from the picture to get the result
But it will be best to start with the LEVEL button on the first sound Then you will hear that the sound becomes longer once you move the knob upwards..
8:Just try around twisting them knobs And dont forget to twist FAT Thats also a very influensual knob for your sound..
9: If you get something your happy with Press at the red spot and the bluebox will come up so you can change the name!!
